month: September 2009
I talked to Braidy’s mom today just before working on this blog and realized it was over a year ago that her and her mom came in to meet with me about her wedding. Talk about time flying.. that was one short year. I shot Braidy’s sisters wedding a couple years ago so this go around was easy… like getting together with old friends. The day was beautiful and rather relaxed… well till I told Braidy we were running behind for our formals. She got caught up doing all the girls make up, but we got caught up and didn’t have any problems.
The ceremony was at Bluegrass UMC over near Daylight and the reception was at Cambridge Golf coarse, which made for a short driving day for me. I did manage to learn a short cut to a friends house too. I loved the colors Braidy choose… she used peacock colors and it was awesome. Once at the reception is was one big party… excellent food, beautiful cake, and great music. Be sure to look closely at the detail on the cake. I had never seen a cake like that and was floored when Braidy told me it was done with paper towels.
Well look at me 2 posts in 2 days. Natasha and Mike had the perfect day for a wedding. Matter of fact, you could ask for a better day in August. It was clear skies and low humidity all the way. There wedding was on frog follies weekend and we had talked about trying to find some hot rods to take them to the reception but it never happened, but how cool it would have been.
This wedding had 2 first for me and the DJ Don… first out bride sang the song for her first dance and what an incredible voice. She needs to go out for American Idol… if she did I would actually watch that show. The second very cool thing was after the dancing started the brides sister Michelle came out with her dance partner and they did a Salsa number which was so cool. The DJ said in the 20 some odd years he’s been doing weddings he’s never had a bride sing the song for her first dance… I hope I don’t have to wait that long to see something like that again.
OK I never really went anywhere but I have been so busy with just busy work that I have really been a bad blogger this past month. Ive had a few shoots just haven’t shown them off yet. Early August I did Daltons senior session. We spent a couple hours running around downtown with his mom and girlfriend. I got to laugh cause every time we did a pose he’d make them walk around the corner so they couldn’t watch. The real excitement was when we got to the old train bridge down on second street. As we were walking up to the bridge I heard his mom say there was someone under the bridge. Well long story short we, apparently, interrupted a couple under the bridge. Ill leave it at that. That to this date I think has to be the most interesting thing I’ve had happen during a session.
