month: March 2009

I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned in any of my past enteries how bored I have been over the past couple of months.  Winter is such a drag.  Well I had my first wedding for the year.  Kelly & Brian got married last Saturday at the Bauerhaus.  Not much growth on the trees yet but it was a good for getting out and taking photos.  My day started off with a trip to Impulse in Newburgh for the hair appointments.  Now I’m not going to pretend to anything about solons, I mean look at me, but I have to admit this place was fun.  It just had a fun and lively atmosphere. Give them some serious thought for your wedding day.

I’m going to bounce around some in this post. Now you know why this blog used to be called the “Ramblings of a Mad Man” It’s because it’s sounds more creative than a guy with a camera and A-D-D. Yesterday, some friends and I went down to Nashville for a seminar on photoshop. Now I don’t really think I learned anything I didn’t already know but more of a different way of thinking. I’ve had the opportunity to see a couple of speakers this year that have taken me back to my art school roots.  Which you’ve probably noticed with the last few posts I’ve made.  Over the past few months I’ve been playing with my images more and pushing them beyond documentary work. I’ve been playing with textures and now after last night, I’m going to start playing with layering elements on top of each other to get some really creative things going.  Don’t worry those of you out there that are worried about what your wedding is going to look like.  I’m still going to do good solid photographer for all my clients. What I’m doing here is for me and those that want something different.  I still want you to be able to look back at your images and remember your wedding day, but as an art major I need to be able to do something fun and off the wall once in awhile. I’ve had a few conversations with friends this week about the stuff we do being a fad…which got me to thinking… I could look at the things we do in photography as fad, but I’ve decided to look at them not as fad but as art movements.  After all I don’t think we would call Picasso’s Cubism a fad.

Well some of you may know tha yesterday instead of staying in my office and working on things, I had a chance to go out in the really nice weather and play.  My friend Michelle had a girl from church that was home for spin break that wanted some photos, so it became a play day. I loved it. Warm weather, just running around downtown taking images. If I could do Senior sessions like this everyday… I would.

We even convinced Saundra Hadley to come out and play as well and she brough Ranger with her, who was thrilled to be out and about.  We got to do lunch outside at the Jungle. Just an all out wonderful day. Im so ready to get back into the swing of things.

I know, when are you going to get to see something other than Vegas.  Well, it is the off season, and again I say,  I have to keep you entertained… as well as myself. =)  I’ve been laying with some new stuff I found out at the convention and wanted to show you some new stuff that I will hopefully be introducing this year.  What can I say I have a need to constantly change. I get bored doing the same thing all the time.

Some of the images I’m showing here this time you might have seen in the first post, only wityh a different twist. I’m not sure if I mentioned I’m looking at some new books.  Less of an album and more of an Art book.  The new books will allow me to do different stuff like what you see here for the bride that wants something totally different. I’m still in the test phases with the new albums but if all goes well it will be something unlike anything you’ve seen in the area and allow me to play more like I like. So stay tuned over the next few months for the new Art books. If all goes well they will be available to all my brides this year.

Ive been dragging my feet ever since I got back from my trip so I wanted to get some of my images up.  I am still going to work on a video that I shot out there too.  No Im not becoming a videographer but I do want to play around a little with video for the blog.  Got to keep you all entertained.

Im not going to bore you all with the plane flight and how I basically freaked myself out and how the girl sitting next to me from Atlanta was so sweet and tried to take my mind off of it but I was to big a mess cause the plane was shaking alittle more than I care for. Im not going to tell you all that cause most of you already know I hate flying.

Im the las post I showed you some images from the Neon Graveyard shoot.  Again, I can’t tell you how awesome that was.  So much fun. These images were actually all form Thursday, the last day I was there.  That was the only day I really got out and walked the strip and took any images. Iw as reluctant to put any up cause I put up the same thing every year but then as I was looking at them I realized they look different. So I thought this could be a fun thing every year… to see how my work improves and if I can make the smae thing look different each time.  Now I have a life time project.
