month: April 2008

I got to spend the weekend in Indy. This was quite a different experience for me… and a lot of driving. I could get used to weddings like this though. I started off at the brides house where all the girls were getting their hair and make up done. I spent about an hour there then headed to the reception location, which was the Terrace in the Market Tower in downtown Indy. Then I had a little over an hour of down time. It was longer than my usual wedding day but not quite as hectic.
I had a lot of fun shooting downtown. I hope I get to do a few more weddings up there. I wouldn’t want to do it every weekend though.

I guess I should also mention how much fun I had with Michelle and Jacob. They were so much fun to work with. This was one of those couples I could ask to do anything and they’d do it. They were so comfortable in front of the camera. Which is unusual for most of us. I’m not even that comfortable in front of the camera. That definitely made my job easy.

Well I’m awake.   I’ve never gotten up so fast in my life… the cat was freaked too.  I’m watching the news right now and there are reports of this earthquake being felt all the way up north in Portage and east to Louisville.  Apparently the center was near Olney, IL, so it wasn’t to far away from us.

If this is going to be added to our repertoire of natural occurrences… I’m moving.  I’ll take tornado’s but I’m not doing both.  Hope everyone is ok.  The only casualty here was my wits… as in scared out of.  I’ll be heading up to Indy this afternoon for my wedding this weekend so I’ll be curious to see what everyone felt up there.  Have a good weekend.

Ok, I have a myspace page now. I’m not entirely sure what to do woth it but I have it. So take time to go check it out. I can tell you right now I’m not going to be keeping a blog on there too. Im lucky to keep up wiht this one. You can see my Myspace page at http://www.myspace.com/vickersphoto.

Hope you like it.

I went with my friend, MIchelle, to shoot a wedding this weekend. The wedding was in New Harmony, hich is why I wanted to help shoot. I’ve never gotten to shoot a wedding there so I was just a little excited. After taling to Michelle earlier in the week I found out that the bride (Katie) was someone I used to work with at Schnucks. New Harmony is one of those locations I can pint my camera in any dierction and get a good shot.
The bride got ready over at the New Harmony Inn. The ceremony took place at the roofless church… which was mighty cold, and the reception at the Granary. Needless to say there was alot of walking that day.

Well I said Id never do it, but I did. I found me a new full time job. I couldn’t pass it up. It’s a 40 hour a week position with excellent benefits. Jobs like this don’t come along everyday so I couldn’t say no.
Now I will admit that I thought the job was going to be alot easier than it has actually turned out to be, but Im sure Ill get used to it. I really thought I was going to be sitting around all day only having to do a little each day, but wouldn’t you know it just about the time I sit down to rest I have to get right back up and redo what i just did… and I do this all day long. I mean I get little rest. I barely make it through my breaks without being disturbed. So far I’ve had to come back from lunch early everyday.
Anyway, Im sure by now you’re probably wondering what my new job it. Well being the photographer that I am I have taken or had someone take a pic of my doing my new job.

GOTCHA!!!

But it would be a full time position though… just not for me.
